The Clan Hill occurrence is located 1 kilometre south of Copley Lake, approximately 35 kilometres south of the community of Fraser Lake.

The area is primarily underlain by felsic volcanic rocks of the Eocene Ootsa Lake Formation, including crystal tuff, lapilli tuff, flow- banded rhyolite, volcanic breccias, and some porphyritic andesite.

Locally, a zone of colliform quartz and argillically altered volcanics occurs with strong manganese and barite veining and zones of silicification and quartz veining. Mineralization consists of numerous narrow pyrite- and molybdenite- rich veins.

Work History

In 2010, Fred Critchlow and Sean Kennedy for Kootenay Gold Inc. completed a rock sampling and prospecting program over the Copley property, which contains the CLAN occurrence. Rock sampling returned multi-gram gold values and anomalous values in copper, including sample MK10-104, found approximately 200 metres to the east of the occurrence, which graded 2.19 grams per tonne gold and 5.5 grams per tonne silver, and sample SK10-133, found approximately 600 metres to the northwest of the occurrence, which assayed 2.13 grams per tonne gold and greater than 0.2 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 32086).

In 2017, Sean Kennedy for Kootenay Silver Inc. completed an exploration program including ground mapping, and rock sampling. Highlighted samples included sample TKN17-47, which graded 2.14 grams per tonne gold and 0.13 per cent molybdenum, and TKN17-125, which graded 1.09 grams per tonne gold on the East Dome area immediately surrounding the occurrence (Assessment Report 37409).

In 2019, Sean Kennedy for Kootenay Silver Inc. completed an induced polarization survey on the Copley property containing the CLAN occurrence. Chargeability inversions on the East Dome (Clan Hill) area showed the strongest results of the whole survey. A number of shallow moderate to strong anomalies underlain by lower values were observed over the area of the occurrence.
